A veces se le llama el Robin Hood flamenco. Las peripecias de Jan De Lichte y su banda de forajidos de Velzeke fueron también inmortalizadas literariamente por Hugo Claus y Louis Paul Boon. Anton Cogen hizo un guion para una emocionante caminata a través del paisaje de Velzeke y utilizó para ello fragmentos de la monólogo de Danny Lamarcq.
