El Grevenburg se encuentra a un kilómetro al noreste del pueblo de Sommersell de la ciudad de Nieheim en el distrito de Höxter, en Renania del Norte-Westfalia.
El Grevenburg es un castillo de agua; el terreno de la finca que rodea el edificio abarca 2,5 ha y hoy es un parque paisajístico histórico. La familia noble Oeynhausen adquirió el terreno y construyó allí en 1536 una explotación agrícola. El castillo fue nombrado así en honor al arroyo Greve. Los descendientes construyeron entre 1566 y 1579 la pequeña casa señorial renacentista como sede familiar. Originalmente, el Grevenburg estaba rodeado por un foso de aproximadamente 18 m de ancho, que estaba encerrado por un alto y grueso terraplén. Alrededor de 1850, el foso fue parcialmente relleno y se crearon estanques. Alrededor de 1950, el parque fue renovado nuevamente. El parque se caracteriza por su antiguo arbolado.
