Esta excursión comienza en el centro de visitantes e información del Geoparque.

Se llega al bosque a través de un paisaje de campos abiertos. Antes de entrar, se pasa por la cantera de piedra protegida y dejada abierta cerca de Sperlingsherberge. Aquí, enormes bloques de roca dan fe de los acontecimientos durante la era glacial.
Al principio, el camino aún transcurre por la zona de amortiguamiento, que se utiliza para actividades forestales y, por lo tanto, alberga una diversidad de hayas de diferentes edades. Luego se continúa hacia el Patrimonio Natural de la Humanidad.
