Il Monumento ai Leoni sulla Königsallee, proprio accanto alla Schiller-Schule, è il monumento comunale ai guerrieri caduti della città di Bochum durante la Prima Guerra Mondiale 1914-18.
Il leone di pietra, colpito mortalmente da una freccia conficcata nel lato destro, ruggisce il suo dolore verso il "nemico ereditario" Francia e ricorda visivamente le vittime di questa Prima Guerra Mondiale.
L'iscrizione di dedica alla base vuole giustificare i sentimenti di una generazione del dopoguerra:
