Questa è la prima tappa di un percorso che va da Albacete a Lisbona, quindi da est della Spagna al lato ovest del Portogallo. L'intero percorso è lungo circa 750 km.
Dopo aver lasciato la città di Albacete, per un po' si segue un via verde, una pista ciclabile semi-rigida. Il percorso è pianeggiante e anche le strade successive proseguono per la pianura. Da San Pedro, però, inizia a salire sempre di più fino a un'altitudine di 1180 m e la seconda parte della tappa è piuttosto impegnativa. Poco prima di Alcaraz, la strada scende bruscamente.
