La terza tappa segue in grandi linee il percorso che El Cid fece quando fu esiliato dal re di Castiglia. La rotta presenta un andamento piuttosto ondulato e tortuoso. L'obiettivo è Santo Domingo de Silos, con il suo monastero e i canti dei monaci benedettini. L'interno della Spagna è poco popolato in questa zona. I paesini che attraversiamo spesso non contano più di un paio di fattorie. I caffè o i ristoranti sono rari.
