Il piccolo villaggio di Esch-sur-Sûre - 250 abitanti - si trova su una sorta di isola circondata dal Sauer. È considerato uno dei villaggi più belli del Granducato di Lussemburgo. È dominato da una rovina di torre e alcuni resti del castello medievale (927). La roccia sembra emergere dal fiume. Esch è rimasto a lungo un villaggio isolato. Per aprirlo, nel 1850 è stata scavata una galleria. Un secondo tunnel è stato scavato nel 1954 verso la diga e il lago. Questo lago artificiale, realizzato per le esigenze idriche, è così integrato nel paesaggio che sembra una griglia della natura.
