Pekela; Gronings: Pekel; popolazione al 31 gennaio 2022: 12.186, fonte: CBS) è un comune nel nord dei Paesi Bassi, nella provincia di Groningen. Al 1° gennaio 2020 la popolazione era di 12.199, una lieve diminuzione di 15 persone rispetto all'anno precedente. Il comune ha un'area di 50,22 km². Pekela è nata dalla fusione di Oude Pekela e Nieuwe Pekela il 1° gennaio 1990. Dal 1° dicembre 2010, Pekela si è fusa ufficialmente con Veendam. Questa fusione è stata terminata il 1° gennaio 2021. L'organizzazione ufficiale era la regolamentazione comune De Kompanjie.
