Escharen è un villaggio situato a sud della città fortificata di Grave, tra il fiume Maas e il Raam, su terreni più elevati, da cui forse deriva il suo nome. Escharen è parte del comune di Land van Cuijk. Nella lingua parlata, Escharen è chiamata Esteren. È un ex comune che includeva anche Langenboom, nato molto più tardi. Nel 1942, il comune è stato diviso; Escharen è stato unito al comune di Grave e Langenboom al comune di Mill e Sint Hubert. Il 1° gennaio 2021, Escharen contava 1.185 abitanti.
