Tekenend voor Zelzate is 'Mietje Stroel', het meisje dat plaste waar het haar paste. Door een smokkelaar op het Zelzaats stort opgevoed, heeft deze vondelinge nu een standbeeldje vlak voor het gemeentehuis, en zelfs een eigen museum. Mietje Stroel staat ook bekend als de officiële verloofde van Manneken Pis uit Brussel. De wandelaar start aan het oude brughuis, waar het museum is ondergebracht van Mietje Stroel en verkent de resterende groene paden van Zelzate-Oost.
