Centraal in het gehucht gelegen, classicistisch zaalkerkje. Houtem kreeg door toedoen van de abdij van Ter Kameren al zeer vroeg een eigen kapel, gelegen aan de baan naar Vilvoorde zoals blijkt uit het Kaartboek van de abdij van 1719. In 1775 werd een nieuwe kapel, de huidige kerk, gebouwd tijdens het beheer van abdis Serafina Snoy, wiens wapenschild boven de kooringang bewaard bleef.
