In de Dorpsstraat te Machelen-aan-de-Leie staat tussen de bomen de verborgen parel, kasteel Eeckendauw.
Deze erfgoedlocatie werd omstreeks 1850 gebouwd in opdracht van de notarisfamilie Van der Eecken en is sinds 1950 in het bezit van de familie Dauwe.
De naam 'Eeckendauw' is een samenstelling van de namen van beide families.
Het kasteel is opgetrokken in de neoclassicistische architectuurstijl met als blikvanger de prachtige voorgevel met ionische zuilen en fronton.
Net zoals bij het kasteel van Olsene en het kasteel van Zulte, is de ijskelder bewaard gebleven. Ook het koetshuis is nog intact.
Naast kasteel Eeckendauw ligt de Franse militaire begraafplaats.
