Het is gebouwd in Lodewijk XIII-stijl door Jean-Jérôme Molé in 1673 en bestaat uit een hoofdgebouw en vierhoekige paviljoens die de gevels omlijsten. Twee oudere krijtpaviljoens staan nog op de hoeken van de binnenplaats, badend in het water van de gracht.
Een eeuw na de bouw werd het verkocht aan de voorvader van de huidige eigenaren en sindsdien bewoont de familie Bonamy de Villemereuil het pand. Aan de algehele samenstelling en het oorspronkelijke doel van het gebouw is weinig veranderd en de indeling van het interieur is in overeenstemming met het werk van de bouwers.
Het staat op de monumentenlijst sinds oktober 1971 en is privébezit. Open voor het publiek tijdens de Europese Erfgoeddagen.
