Al heel vroeg ontwikkelde hij een interesse in schilderen en kunst in het algemeen en begon hij zijn eigen portretten en landschappen te maken, het begin van een passie die hem nooit meer zou verlaten.
Zijn familie stond niet toe dat hij naar de kunstacademie ging, maar hij bleef schilderen en al snel veranderde zijn stijl in abstractie en kleur. Deze stijl bracht hem in contact met andere kunstenaars zoals Philippe Tykoczinski en Guy Péqueux, die hem professioneel advies gaven.
Zijn invloed bracht Patrick's werk op een ander niveau, maar het was door zelftraining dat hij zijn kunst verfijnde, zichzelf constant vernieuwde, zowel het type drager als de techniek evolueerde, zijn universum ontwikkelend, steeds rijker en gevarieerder, levendiger en dromeriger.
