Deze stuwdam werd in 1926 gebouwd voor de Société des Forces Motrices de la Vienne (zelf opgericht in 1914) en werd in 1946 overgenomen en in zijn werking en faciliteiten aangepast aan de behoeften van het hydraulische systeem. Het maakt deel uit van de groep van 3 waterkrachtcentrales die zijn opgericht tussen de gemeenten Millac en Isle Jourdain. Een thermische centrale voltooide de installatie en werkte met poederkool. Haar activiteiten werden in 1954 gestaakt
U moet weten dat dit enorme bouwwerk 270 m lang is met een waterval van 8,10 m en een reservoir van 35 ha. Om een idee te krijgen van de productie, is de fabriek uitgerust met 4 verticale turbines die in 1947 zijn geïnstalleerd. De totale turbinestroom bedraagt 94 m³ per seconde. Het maximale vermogen is 5,1 MVA en de gemiddelde jaarlijkse productie bedraagt 27.000.000 kWH. Indrukwekkend
