De Graetheide bij Urmond ligt ingesloten door de A2 en het Julianakanaal. Dit ‘onopvallende’ gebied zit juist vol verhalen en weidse vergezichten. Zo zou het ooit aan de
inwoners geschonken zijn door de middeleeuwse Koning Zwentibold en is dit dé plek waar de allereerste boeren van Europa, de bandkeramiekers, zo’n 7000 duizend jaar geleden hun huizen bouwden.
Het gebied is doorspekt met geschiedenis maar tegenwoordig is het ook het ontdekken waard. Het is een open, akkerrijk natuurgebied waar roofvogels hun kostje bijeen
scharen. Dit gebied is bijzonder geschikt om van te genieten op je fiets.
