Het bevrijdingsvuur is een nationaal Nederlands symbool ter herdenking van het einde van de Tweede Wereldoorlog op 5 mei 1945.
Jaarlijks wordt sinds 1948 het vuur op 5 mei om 0.00u, Bevrijdingsdag, ontstoken op het 5 Mei Plein te Wageningen. Lopersgroepen steken een fakkel aan dit vuur aan, waarna het in estafette naar de eigen woonplaats wordt gebracht.
Tot 2011 werd op het 5 mei plen het vuur ontstoken met een fakkel, die was aangestoken bij een continu brandend vlammetje in het gasstation van Vattenfall aan de Droevendaalsesteeg in Wageningen. Sinds 2011 brandt het bevrijdingsvuur continu in het Bevrijdingsvuurmonument nabij de Aula (monument ontworpen door Hans Roebers)
Sindsdien fungeert het vlammetje als back-up zekerheid ( zeg maar een vuur-brandkast)
