Caudry har en lignende historie som byen Gent i Belgien. Også her blev en væv stolen fra England, og dette var starten på en blomstrende tekstilindustri baseret på blonder og tyl. I 1913 var der 650 væve her og flere tusinde vævere aktive. Caudry er sammen med Calais det eneste sted, hvor der stadig laves blonder.
