Die Abtei Grimbergen (Canonia Grimbergensis im Lateinischen) ist eine Norbertinerabtei in der Brabanter Zirkari. Sie liegt in Grimbergen (Provinz Flandern-Brabant), etwa 10 Kilometer nördlich von Brüssel. Es ist die älteste bewohnte Norbertinerabtei Belgiens.
Das Emblem der Abtei ist der Phönix, entnommen aus der griechischen Mythologie. Wie dieser Vogel aus seiner Asche wiederaufersteht, wurde die Abtei nach wiederholten Zerstörungen (1142, 1579 und 1816) wieder aufgebaut. Dies wird auch durch das Motto ardet nec consumitur (sie brennt, wird aber nicht verzehrt) ausgedrückt. Quelle: wikipedia
