Die Schlacht bei Hasselt fand am 8. August 1831 während des Zehn-Tage-Feldzugs statt. Die belgische Maasarmee unter dem Kommando von Daine wurde bei Hasselt von Prinz Wilhelm von Oranien geschlagen. Der Prinz von Oranien führte als Oberbefehlshaber eine Feldarmee von 36.000 Mann an. Er hatte geplant, sich zwischen die Scheldearmee unter dem Kommando von Michel de Tiecken de Terhove und die Maasarmee zu drängen, um Brüssel zu besetzen. Die Maasarmee unter Daine bestand aus 14.500 Mann. Sie waren ungenügend ausgebildet und bew Waffen und mussten laut Colenbrander ohne ordentliche Artillerie auskommen.
