Das Olympiastadion Lluís Companys, zu Ehren des Präsidenten der Generalitat de Catalunya, Lluís Companys, der 1940 vom franquistischen Regime auf dem Montjuïc erschossen wurde, befindet sich auf dem Montjuïc. Es wurde vom Architekten Pere Domènech i Roura entworfen und 1929 anlässlich der Weltausstellung in Barcelona eingeweiht. In den sechziger Jahren wurde es untergenutzt, und seine Tribünen begannen, besorgniserregende Anzeichen von Verfall zu zeigen. Die Ausrichtung der Olympischen Spiele 1992 in Barcelona ermöglichte eine Renovierung durch das Architektenteam Correa-Milà-Margarit-Buixadé und mit der Beteiligung des Italieners Gregotti.
