Die Schlacht von Cassano fand im Herbst 1259 zwischen einem Guelph- und einem Ghibellinenheer in Norditalien statt.
Im Jahr 1259 rückten Ezzelino da Romano und sein Ghibellinenheer in die Lombardei ein und belagerten Orci Novi. Doch die Annäherung des Guelphheers zwang Ezzelino, die Belagerung abzubrechen und den Fluss Oglio zu überqueren. Unterstützt von verbannten Adligen aus Mailand versuchten die Ghibellinen, die Stadt Monza mit Gewalt zu erobern, doch der Versuch schlug fehl. Ezzelino und seine Truppen, sich der gefährlichen Lage bewusst, in der sie sich nun befanden, zogen sich zum Fluss Adda zurück.
