Der Steinerne Mann am Westerzeedijk in Harlingen ist eine Replik eines monumentalen Grenzpfahls, der 1576 aufgestellt wurde, um die Mitte der Vijfdeelenzeedijken zu markieren. Dieser Grenzpfahl im Renaissance-Stil war inspiriert von den römischen Göttern Terminus, dem Gott der Grenze, und Janus, dem Gott des Anfangs und des Endes. Der offizielle Name war Terminus, aber im Volksmund wurde er Stenen Man genannt.
