In der Gement stand das Wasser 1629 bis zu drei Meter hoch. Konvois aus Wagen und Karren mussten einen befahrbaren Weg erhalten. Dafür wurde Erde aufgeschüttet, die mit Pfählen und dazwischen gereihten Ästen zusammengehalten wurde. Holländer halfen bei diesem großen Werk. Als der Holländische Dijk fertig war, war die Linie um die Stadt ’s-Hertogenbosch vollständig geschlossen. Direkt nach der Belagerung von ’s-Hertogenbosch brachen die Staatsen den Holländischen Dijk wieder ab. So wurde das Wassersystem wiederhergestellt und der Dijk konnte nicht mehr gegen sie verwendet werden.
