Rik van Steenbergen has a monument in Aarendonk, where he was born on 9 September 1924. Among other things, he became world champion on the road three times. He was a professional cyclist from 1942 to 1966 (from the age of 20 to 42). He also rode six days with his son-in-law Palle Lykke. He died in Antwerp on 15 May 2003.
