En 1995, se estableció aquí en Limburgo la primera red de nodos del mundo. La historia ya se ha contado muchas veces. Fue el ingeniero de minas Hugo Bollen quien transformó el sistema de navegación de las minas limburguesas en un concepto para una red de ciclismo. Mientras tanto, el sistema también se ha exportado más allá de las fronteras nacionales. Después de los Países Bajos, los Cantones del Este, la región alemana de Heinsberg y la región valona de Famenne, ahora también se han colocado señales en el Valón picardo, la región más occidental de Henao alrededor de Tournai, Ath y Enghien.
