El verdadero nombre de Stijn Streuvels era Frank Lateur, trabajó y vivió en la región de Leie hasta su muerte en 1969. Como homenaje a los logros de este conocido novelista flamenco, se nombró una ruta de auto y moto en su honor.
La ruta Streuvels comienza en Kortrijk y desde allí te lleva a través de Kuurne, Harelbeke, Deerlijk, Anzegem y Avelgem e incluso hasta cruzar la frontera con Oost-Vlaanderen y Hainaut. En el camino, explorarás el área ondulada en este sureste de West-Vlaanderen, que es característica de la zona entre el Leie y el Escalda.
Conduces por amplias crestas y a través de suaves valles, los cuales aportan mucha variedad en esta área agrícola donde hermosas vistas aparecen repetidamente en el horizonte. El camino de regreso de esta ruta te lleva a lo largo del canal Bossuit-Kortrijk de vuelta a Zwevegem; este canal se encuentra en el sur de West-Vlaanderen y conecta el Escalda en Bossuit con el Leie en Kortrijk.
