Chartres es una ciudad y comuna francesa situada en el departamento de Eure y Loir, del que es capital, en la región de Centro-Valle de Loira. Destaca por su notable catedral gótica, la catedral de Nuestra Señora de Chartres. Situada a orillas del río Eure, la ciudad fue conocida en diferentes momentos de su historia con los topónimos de Carnutes, Autricum y civitas Carnutum. El Domingo de Ramos y en Pentecostés, Chartres se convierte en un tradicional lugar de peregrinaje.
