El más visitado en el Palazzo della Cancelleria es el Arco della Cancelleria.
El Arco de la Cancillería es la puerta que se abría en el lado norte de la primera muralla de San Gimignano y data del siglo X-XI. En ese momento, el barrio detrás de la puerta aún no existía y desde aquí el camino se adentraba en el campo hacia Pisa, formando parte de la Via Francigena. Hoy, este tramo de la vía es parte del barrio de San Matteo, que fue creado alrededor de 1200 a lo largo del eje vial que promovía el comercio y las oportunidades comerciales.
