Le village est mentionné pour la première fois en 791 sous le nom de Hetannesloh et appelé Hettenslah au XVème siècle. Le village est abonné au XVème siècle et son ban est réuni à celui de Weckolsheim. Le site est réhabité à la fin du 18ème siècle. En 1824, le village devient une commune indépendante.
