Le 28 novembre 1655, Bologne offre un gigantesque spectacle à la reine Christine de Suède, qui interrompt son voyage vers Rome. Sur la Piazza Maggiore, depuis le Palazzo d'Accursio du côté ouest jusqu'au marché aux poissons (aujourd'hui Via Pecherie Vecchie) du côté est, un théâtre temporaire a été construit en forme d'immense navire. La gloire de la ville était célébrée dans une pièce allégorique. Le spectacle s'est terminé par un tournoi de style romain classique.
