Situato a strapiombo su un ampio promontorio roccioso che è lambito da un meandro della Lesse, il castello di Walzin ha sempre colpito gli spiriti, compreso quello di Victor Hugo, che ne ha lasciato un disegno datato 1863.
Costruito a partire dal XIII secolo, il castello ha ben poco di medievale, al di fuori della torre angolare a forma di ferro di cavallo (XV secolo); essa possiede ancora quattro porte di cannoniera.
Il resto dell'edificio è stato fortemente modificato, soprattutto tra il 1930 e il 1932. L'opzione scelta è stata quella di adottare un'architettura tradizionale e di procedere a unificazione stilistica.
Ma più dell'architettura, è l'ambiente naturale del castello che rimane eccezionale.
