L'attuale complesso del castello fu costruito nel 1903 dal barone Fernand de Beeckman e dalla sua consorte Emilie Wittouck, la cui famiglia lo acquisì dopo la rivoluzione francese. Degli edifici medievali non è rimasto nulla a causa di un incendio avvenuto intorno al 1900. Dopo la morte della baronessa Wittouck (1947), il dominio passò diverse volte di mano. Alla fine, l'associazione senza scopo di lucro Gezondheidszorg gestì per quarant'anni un centro per il turismo sociale. Intorno al cambio del millennio, era di nuovo tempo di cambiamenti. Il dominio fu suddiviso tra alcuni nuovi proprietari: Group Oostappen (campeggio), Twin Properties (case vacanze e hotel), l'associazione senza scopo di lucro Gezondheidszorg (castello) e Limburgs Landschap vzw (gestione della natura e centro visitatori).
