Nel 1909 fu proposta la celebrazione di un'esposizione ispano-americana nella città di Siviglia. 1 La partecipazione del Portogallo dal novembre 1922 portò la mostra a ribattezzarsi Iberoamericana.
Gli architetti Carlos e Guillermo Rebello de Andrade hanno progettato questo edificio. Rappresenta l' estetica storicista neobarocca del periodo, con un ampio tetto che ricorda il Palazzo Reale di Sintra .
Oltre a questo padiglione, il complesso aveva altri quattro annessi dedicati a mostre culturali, mostre commerciali, un auditorium e vini di Porto. Ora è il consolato portoghese.
