Lo storico dacchese De Sauviac cita l'esistenza a Laluque, nell'XI secolo, di una chiesa romanica intitolata: Sanctus Joannès di Laluke. La chiesa primitiva dell'VIII secolo fu saccheggiata dai Normanni nel IX secolo e dai Saraceni nel X secolo. La chiesa fu nuovamente incendiata nel XIII e XIV secolo. È stato immediatamente ricostruito. Nel XIX secolo, tra il 1854 e il 1873, venne nuovamente restaurato in modo estensivo
Si tratta in parte della chiesa attuale, restaurata nel XIX secolo tra il 1854 e il 1873. Con, tra l'altro, la sua abside dell'XI secolo, è di grande interesse storico, artistico e culturale.
Nel 2007 sono stati restaurati i dipinti del 1873, l'impianto elettrico, l'illuminazione e il riscaldamento (riscaldamento a pavimento) e lo spazio è stato riorganizzato.
