Questo è il quartiere più piccolo del distretto di Rotterdam-Noord. Il quartiere è delimitato dalla Schiekade, dalla Bergweg, dal Noordsingel e dalla Heer Bokelweg.
Dove ora si trova il quartiere Agniesebuurt, in passato si trovava la polder Oost-Blommersdijk. In quest'area tra la Rotte e la Schie di Rotterdam, già nel diciottesimo secolo c'erano alcune case, ma nel periodo 1850-1940 l'intera polder fu edificata. L'Agniesebuurt prende il nome dalla Agniesestraat, che si trova al centro. Il nome Agniese deriva da Agniese, l'unica figlia di Dieric Bokel. Nel 1336 sposò Simon van Benthem, e successivamente Gherijt van Herlaer. A causa dei suoi matrimoni, la maggior parte dei beni di suo padre passò ad altre famiglie.
