in 1995 werd het eerste knooppuntennetwerk ter wereld hier in Limburg ingefietst. Het verhaal is intussen vaak verteld. Het was mijningenieur Hugo Bollen die het navigatiesysteem uit de Limburgse mijnen herwerkte tot een concept voor een fietsnetwerk. Intussen is het systeem ook geëxporteerd over de landsgrenzen. Na Nederland, de Oostkantons, de Duitse regio Heinsberg en de Waalse regio Famenne zijn nu ook bordjes geplaatst in Picardisch Wallonië, de meest westelijke regio van Henegouwen rond Doornik, Ath en Enghien.
