De Ofenpas is gelegen in het kanton Graubünden en vormt de verbinding tussen Zernez en Santa Maria Val Müstair. De pashoogte ligt op 2.149 m en de paslengte bedraagt 35 km. Het aantal scherpe bochten is vrij beperkt voor een bergpas van meer dan 2.000 meter hoogte. Vanaf Zernez voert de weg in eerste instantie door dichtbebost gebied met weinig uitzicht. Boven de boomgrens heb je goed zicht op de woeste vergruisde bergen rondom.
