Hier vindt u het graf van de wiskundige Galois. Galois werd op 20-jarige leeftijd begraven in de gracht van het burgerlijk graafschap op de begraafplaats van Montparnasse in Parijs. Hij is de (jonge) vader van de wiskundige groeptheorie.
Zijn laatste woorden tegen zijn broer waren: 'Huil niet, Alfred! Ik heb al mijn moed nodig om op mijn twintigste te sterven!' Hij had een fatale verwonding opgelopen bij een pistoolduel. Zijn tegenstander lijkt een concurrent te zijn geweest voor de genegenheid van een jonge vrouw genaamd Stéphanie, waarschijnlijk de dochter van Galois' huisbaas.
