Wist je dat de gevolgen van de uitbarsting van de Krakatoa (Indonesië) in 1883 hier in de Ribble Valley te zien waren? We weten dit omdat de dichter Gerard Manley Hopkins in januari 1884 een lyrische beschrijving van de vulkanische skyscapes over de Ribbel-vallei maakte. Deze skyscapes waren zo mooi vanwege het stof in de lucht veroorzaakt door de uitbarsting van de Krakatoa aan de andere kant van de wereld.
