El museu es troba en un antic edifici que data del segle XIV.
L'exposició mostra una varietat d' artefactes d'origen hel·lènic (de la propera colònia d'Himera) i romà , inclosa una notable varietat d'estàtues de marbre. La secció històrico-artística conté algunes obres valuoses, com ara un políptic del segle XV de Gaspare da Pesaro i una Anunciació sobre fusta de l'escola flamenca .
Recentment s'han obert una secció dedicada al segle XIX de Termita i dues sales amb l'obra de l'escultor local Filippo Sgarlata. Completen el recorregut les col·leccions mineralògiques i malacològiques i una capella amb frescos del segle XV.
