Militærhospitalet Dronning Astrid blev taget i brug i 1981. Det er et smukt eksempel på flytning af en institution fra centrum til forstæderne af hensyn til biltilgængelighed. Hospitalet huser et af de mest moderne og største centre for forbrændte i Europa.
I løbet af coronaviruskrisen i 2020-21 blev hospitalet brugt som vaccinationscenter.
