Stationen Neumünster er knudepunktet mellem ruterne Neumünster–Flensburg, Neumünster–Heide, Hamburg-Altona–Kiel, Neumünster–Bad Oldesloe, Hamburg-Altona–Neumünster og indtil 1985 Neumünster–Ascheberg. Det er den vigtigste station i byen Neumünster og bliver i 2011 klassificeret som station kat. 2 af Deutsche Bahn AG.
Stationen blev bygget i 1844 på den første jernbanelinje i Schleswig-Holstein fra Altona til Kiel. Allerede i 1845 kom Rendsburg-linjen fra Rendsburg-Neumünstersche Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft til, og gennem Altona-Kieler Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft kom linjen til Ascheberg og videre til Neustadt in Holstein i 1866, samt 1875 linjen til Bad Oldesloe og endelig i 1877 linjen til Heide gennem Westholsteinische Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft. AKN nåede Neumünster i 1916, men togene endte først i stationen Neumünster-Süd.
