Den 23. september 2005 blev en statue af folkesangeren André Hazes afsløret på Albert Cuypmarkedet i Albert Cuypstraat. Hazes tilbragte sin barndom i De Pijp. Hans sangtalent blev opdaget i 1959 af Johnny Kraaijkamp sr., da André stod og sang på Albert Cuypmarkedet.
