Det ligner en miniature-version af paladset på Dam, dette rådhus i Weesp. Det er et statussymbol par excellence, bygget med de mange penge, der blev tjent i øl- og geneverindustrien. Arkitekten Jacob Otten Husly byggede rådhuset i klassicistisk stil mellem 1772 og 1776. Du kender ham måske som arkitekten bag Felix Meritis på Keizersgracht i Amsterdam. Han byggede rådhuset af sandsten, en meget værdifuld stenart, da den skulle importeres. I det trekanterede tympanum ovenfor bærer to løver våbnet for Weesp.
Gå, hvis det er muligt, ind for at få et glimt af 'Vierschaar'. Bag gitteret dømte skout og skippene kriminelle. Den blindede 1600-tals Dame Justitia står som symbol på en retfærdig dom. Forestil dig her et øjeblik at være en fange blandt rotterne og halmen, og tag et selfie i skammestolen!
