Siden 1921 har det været bedst kendt for sit hospital for diagnose og behandling af patienter med lungesygdomme og allergiske sygdomme, nu kendt som Golnik Universitetshospital for Lungesygdomme og Allergiske Sygdomme. Dets beliggenhed, gode fugtighedsforhold og høje antal solskinsdage om året har bidraget til, at det er blevet et førende sundhedscenter i regionen. Et slot fra det 16. århundrede er en del af hospitalets kompleks, og det er omgivet af en park designet af arkitekten Ivan Vurnik.
