Houtvenne ist ein Dorf in der belgischen Provinz Antwerpen und ein Teilgemeinde von Hulshout. Houtvenne war eine eigenständige Gemeinde bis zur Gemeindereform von 1977. Houtvenne entstand wahrscheinlich unter den Karolingern. Viele Einheimische bezeichnen diese Region als Josterwijk. Oosterwijk-Houtvenne wuchs rund um eine Kapelle, die dem heiligen Adrianus gewidmet ist, innerhalb der Pfarrei Herselt, die seit 1365 unter der Verwaltung der Abtei Tongerlo steht. 1651 wurde Oosterwijk-Houtvenne nahezu eine autonome Pfarrei, weiterhin unter der Kontrolle derselben Abtei. Im 19. Jahrhundert wurde die Kapelle dann auch zur Kirche umgestaltet.
