Jülich ist eine mittlere, kreisangehörige Stadt im Kreis Düren, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Deutschland.
Jülich liegt an der Rur. Mit seinem relativ flachen und sehr fruchtbaren Umland bildet es den nördlichen Teil der Jülich-Zülpicher Börde. Zur niederländischen Grenze bei Palenberg sind es knapp 20 km Luftlinie, zur belgischen bei Lichtenbusch knapp 30 km, Köln und der Rhein liegen etwa 40 km östlich. Jülich besteht neben der Kernstadt aus 15 weiteren Stadtteilen . Begrenzt wird dieses Stadtgebiet im Norden von der Stadt Linnich, im Nordosten von der Gemeinde Titz, im Südosten von der Gemeinde Niederzier, im Süden von der Gemeinde Inden und im Westen von der Gemeinde Aldenhoven. Die größte Ausdehnung von Ost nach West beträgt 13,3 km und von Nord nach Süd 10,9 km. Abgesehen von der künstlich aufgeschütteten 302 m hohen Sophienhöhe östlich von Jülich liegt der höchste Punkt des Stadtgebiets in Bourheim bei 110 m, der tiefste mit 70 m in Barmen.
