Im Archäologischen Park Kellmünz des Landkreises Neu-Ulm wird ihre Geschichte lebendig.

Sie errichteten um 300 nach Christus auf dem Plateau des Illerhochufers ihr Kastell „Caelius Mons“. Es gehörte mit seinen massigen Festungsmauern zu den größten Grenzkastellen spätrömischer Zeit.

Also genügend Zeit einplanen für die Besichtigung des Museumsturms und einem Rundgang durch den Markt Kellmünz mit seiner Kirche St. Martin. Weiter geht es entlang einer ehemaligen Bahnstrecke auf dem Iller-Roth-Günz-Radweg nach Babenhausen und durch das idyllische Tal der Roth hinein in die quirlige Einkaufsstadt Illertissen. Der letzte Abschnitt führt auf dem beschaulichen Illerradweg über den Markt Altenstadt mit guten Einkehrmöglichkeiten zurück zum Ausgangspunkt.
