Jean-Baptiste André Godin (1817-1888), der Gründer der Fabrik der berühmten Godin-Öfen, dachte sich eine Gesellschaft für seine Arbeiter aus, die die gleichen Lebensbedingungen wie "die Reichen" hatten. In der zweiten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts baute er das Familistère oder 'Soziale Palais'. Sie können das Familistère über das Museum vor Ort, die Musterwohnung, den Hof der Wohnpavillons, den Ziergarten, das Haus des Hausmeisters, das Theater des Familistère und das Schwimmbad-Waschhaus entdecken.
